2026 AK State Rendezvous

2025 AK Territorials

When the dust had settled, 6 shooters, 3.5 days and 45 aggregates shot!

It is really hard to choose what to write about for the territorial matches. Perhaps some of the other members can send me some thoughts that I can add of what they remembered most of the 4 days we spent shooting? The weather was a perfect overcast 50-60 degrees for most of the days and we never had any rain. We shot a whopping 45 aggregates and 172 matches, way to go guys. Shooting at the range this year definitely had some advantages but there was a loss of the camping and sharing around the fire after the shoots. It was really great to have all our gear right there at hand and a toilet that is not filled with ravenous mosquitoes is nice too. We did have a loss though on the last day we learned that one of our members had passed during the night after leaving our shoot on the first day complaining of feeling sick. This was not expected and you will be missed Horn.

1,000 Point Pistol Match

Every year we gather together to shoot the 1,000 point pistol match. This is the event that NMLRA uses to determine shooter classes for national events which is another reason that I should practice more. I can’t tell you how many years I have failed to gain Expert class scores by less than 10 points and I did it again this year with a slightly less score 8 points short of the elusive 800/1000. Oh well, maybe next year when I am retired. Oh, and I found out that Monday that I also had strep.

It was a small group this year with a gun show, daughters needing to get gear home from college and a couple of other events with Cowboys Wild Bunch group and SASS group taking a couple of our regular pistol shooters away.
